Kevin Juliana, James Isley, James Pennington and Will Daniel Simmons are Secret Best Friends, an award-winning quartet with their own approach to barbershop harmony. The Baltimore-based group combines their individual experiences and influences from barbershop, jazz and other styles to create a playful sound of their own. You’ll hear them sing a healthy mix of familiar favorites and lesser-known titles from across the global canon of jazz standards.
Secret Best Friends debuted to audiences on YouTube in 2020, and they earned the Contemporary A Cappella Society’s 2022 A Cappella Video Award for Best Barbershop Video for their rendition of “Obey Your Air Raid Warden.” Their debut full-length album, STOP, DON’T PANIC, was released June 7, 2024.
The quartet is a proud member of the Barbershop Harmony Society, representing the Society’s Mid-Atlantic District. Secret Best Friends are the 2025 Mid-Atlantic District quartet champions and became BHS international quartet finalists in 2024, earning 8th place in the world at the 2024 BHS International Quartet Competition in Cleveland, Ohio.
